Apple Releases New Beta Firmware for AirPods Pro 2

Today, Apple released a new beta firmware update for the Lightning and USB-C variants of the AirPods Pro 2. After a 6B34 firmware release in December, the new version is 6E188.

What is new in the updated software is still being determined because Apple rarely shares information or notes on potential features. Please take note that, at this time, this software is only available to developers.

The firmware for AirPods is typically installed over the air while the AirPods are linked to an iOS smartphone, albeit there are no precise instructions on how to upgrade the software. It should force the update if you place the AirPods in the case, plug them into a power source, and pair them with an iOS device or Mac.

By doing the following, you can verify the firmware on your AirPods Pro:

Establish a connection between your iOS smartphone and the AirPods Pro.

Launch the Settings application.

Press General.

Press and hold.

Press the AirPods.

Check the number that appears next to “Firmware Version.”

We will update this post if we learn more about the new features in the firmware update.
