Google Photos is set to unveil a new feature called ‘My Week’, resembling social media stories but tailored for sharing weekly highlights. This innovation, discovered through code sleuthing and reported by AssembleDebug and Android Authority, marks a significant step in enhancing user engagement within the platform.
When ‘My Week’ goes live, users will find it conveniently placed as a tile on the top left corner of the Google Photos app, displaying their avatar alongside a ‘+’ button. Tapping on this tile prompts users to set up their ‘My Week’ story by selecting photos that encapsulate their recent weeks.
Much like Instagram stories, ‘My Week’ will present these selected photos in a vertical format. It allows invited Google Photos users to view and interact with the story, offering features to like photos and leave comments directly within the app.
This feature is expected to resonate well with Google Photos’ existing user base, especially those who value sharing moments with close circles of friends and family. While an official launch date has yet to be confirmed by Google, the glimpse into ‘My Week’ showcases its potential to enrich the social sharing experience on the platform.
