Google Chrome has issued an emergency security update to tackle two critical vulnerabilities: CVE-2024-4671 and CVE-2024-4761.
The first flaw allows attackers to escape the browser’s sandbox, while the second involves an out-of-bounds write in the V8 JavaScript engine.
To protect your system, update Chrome to version 124.0.6367.207 or later by navigating to Settings > About Chrome and relaunching the browser.
In addition to Chrome updates, Google has also rolled out Android security patches for June 2024. These updates address 37 vulnerabilities across various components, including the Android Kernel and Qualcomm hardware.
Users are encouraged to enable Google Play Protect and update their Android devices to version 11 or higher.
Google Chrome’s new update includes enhanced protections for downloaded files. Files are now categorized as “suspicious” or “dangerous,” with automatic deep scans for enhanced protection users.
Encrypted files may prompt for a password to ensure thorough scanning.
