OpenAI has rolled out a major update to its ChatGPT app for iPhone and iPad, introducing a new “Open SearchGPT” shortcut for seamless web searches.
This enhancement integrates with Apple’s Shortcuts app, allowing users to initiate ChatGPT’s web search functionality directly from their device’s Home Screen or via Siri commands.
SearchGPT is OpenAI’s advanced web search tool, combining AI-driven natural language processing with live web data.
It provides users with real-time sports scores, news, stock updates, and more, all with contextual follow-up capabilities.
The tool launched earlier this year and is currently available for ChatGPT Plus and Teams subscribers, with plans to extend it to free users in the coming months.
To access this feature, users need to download the latest version of the ChatGPT app from the App Store. Once updated, the “Open SearchGPT” shortcut can be added via Apple’s Shortcuts app.
The shortcut enables one-tap activation of ChatGPT’s Search mode, providing a streamlined way to get up-to-date information on the go.
Excitingly, Apple has announced plans to integrate ChatGPT directly into Siri with the iOS 18.2 update, expected in December.
This integration will enhance Siri’s ability to handle complex queries, bridging the gap between Apple Intelligence tools and OpenAI’s robust capabilities.
