Apple has removed the second betas of iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 from the Developer Centre and over the air, meaning they are no longer available to download and install.
Apple has removed the iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 betas following reports that the software was bricking devices. Some iPhone owners who updated found their devices stuck in a boot loop, according to reports on the MacRumors forums, Twitter, and Mastodon.
The only way to fix the problem appears to be to restore a frozen device, which is why Apple has pulled the update. Apple will re-release the beta once the bug has been fixed.
According to reports, the iOS 17.3 boot loop bug may be related to the Back Tap setting. According to a log shared by developer Guilherme Rambo, a Back Tap setting caused his device to crash, and several other affected users have Back Tap enabled in some capacity.
Others who had Back Tap enabled were able to install the update, while others who did not have the feature enabled experienced booting issues, so it is unclear how Back Tap is involved.
