According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple’s iOS 18 release will include new tools that allow users to further customize the iPhone’s home screen.
Gurman asserted in the most recent issue of his “Power On” newsletter that iOS 18 will enable users to alter the color of app icons. “You can make all your social icons blue or the ones relating to finance green,” for instance. To customize the home screen in this way, you must make single-action shortcuts that launch apps and have a custom icon.
Gurman also confirmed earlier rumors that iOS 18 will let users arrange apps anywhere on the grid of the home screen. Users will be able to organize icons more flexibly, just like they can already arrange widgets.
Before being made available to the general public in the fall, iOS 18 is anticipated to be showcased at WWDC in June alongside Apple’s other significant software releases.
