Philips Hue App Gains Support for Widgets

Today’s update to the Philips Hue app, version 5.14, added widget functionality. Add Hue widgets to the Home Screen, Lock Screen, or Today View to control lights and other accessories.

One of the best things about these widgets is their versatility. There are three sizes to choose from: small, medium, and large. The most prominent widget can accommodate up to eight actions or scenarios. And here’s the best part: You can customize these widgets to work with the entire Hue bridge or just the lights in specific rooms. So, you can configure a widget for every room in your house.

Managing your scenes or lighting became much easier with the new widget feature. You can personalize every action, select a scenario from the Hue app, and choose to switch on or off the lights in certain rooms. While some options are available through scenes, dimming lights and turning on automations are not. But with the new widget, you can do all of this with just a tap, making it a practical and convenient approach to managing your lighting.

The upgrade enhances Friends of Hue switches and widgets, such as the Lutron Aurora Smart Bulb Dimmer Switch. In addition to other features, switches now allow natural light scenes, scene cycles, and time-based lighting.

The Philips Hue app is accessible from the App Store and compatible with Philips Hue lights and accessories.
