WhatsApp to Let Users Disable New Instant Video Messages

WhatsApp now offers an option to disable Instant Video Messages amid user concerns about its integration with audio messaging. By default, users in a WhatsApp chat can switch between audio and video communications by tapping the microphone symbol. However, because of this, some users were sending video messages when they meant to send audio ones. To avoid future instances like this, an upcoming WhatsApp upgrade will make Instant Video Messages optional.

According to WABetaInfo, the current beta version of WhatsApp has a new button to disable Instant Video Messages. We may find the option in WhatsApp’s Chat settings.

When you turn off Instant Video Messages, the microphone icon reverts to its normal behavior of transmitting audio messages when you tap and hold it. However, this does not totally disable the feature because you can still receive Instant Video Messages from other users even if the toggle is turned off.

The new toggle is now accessible to WhatsApp Beta users and will be available to everyone soon. In a similar development, WhatsApp is introducing enhanced search filters for the Channels feature, which debuted in June. Users can now find channels based on criteria such as Most Active, New, or Popular using the new filters
