WhatsApp is expanding its AI capabilities by introducing personalized AI chatbots within the app. Currently in beta testing (version 2.25.1.26 for Android), this feature allows users to create unique AI characters designed for various purposes, such as productivity, entertainment, or personal assistance.
The WhatsApp AI chatbot tool simplifies the creation process by guiding users through prompts where they describe the chatbot’s purpose and define its primary tasks. This focus on ease of use makes the feature accessible to everyone, regardless of technical knowledge.
The new update also includes a dedicated “AIs” tab, replacing the Communities tab in the redesigned Android interface. This tab highlights popular AI characters and personalized chatbots for enhanced interaction.
While the feature is still in beta testing and not available to all users yet, it marks WhatsApp’s continued effort to bring AI tools into mainstream messaging. The chat app’s parent company, Meta, powers these capabilities using its Llama 3 language model, emphasizing innovation in AI-driven communication.
This update has the potential to benefit both personal and professional users, enabling tasks like customer support bots and productivity assistants. Stay tuned for further updates as WhatsApp expands its AI offerings.
