WhatsApp Updates: A New Way to Decide How Your App Updates

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature to address user concerns about automatic updates. In the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.24.2.13, available on the Google Play Store, a feature has been added that allows users to manage WhatsApp updates directly from the app settings. This development is significant for users who find automatic updates bothersome and prefer more control over the updating process.

The new feature, currently available to some beta testers, allows users to choose whether WhatsApp should automatically update itself over a Wi-Fi connection whenever a new version is available. Alternatively, users can receive notifications when a new version is available for download. This level of control ensures that users can customize the updating process to their liking and convenience.

It’s worth noting that this update management feature is currently only available on devices preinstalled with the Meta App Manager, which includes some OxygenOS devices. However, users on different operating systems or devices who do not have the Meta App Manager may be unable to access this feature via the app settings.

Users, particularly those on some OxygenOS devices, can now benefit from a more personalized approach to managing app updates, improving their overall experience with the messaging platform.
