Two New AirPods 4 Models Expected to Launch in September or October

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that Apple suppliers will start producing two new fourth-generation AirPods models in May. Based on this production schedule, he anticipates that the headphones will be available in September or October.

Gurman anticipates that both fourth-generation AirPods models will feature an upgraded charging case with a USB-C port, a better fit, and enhanced sound quality. According to him, the more expensive models will also have active noise suppression and a speaker within the charging case for Find My Place tracking.

He previously stated that Apple intends to discontinue the second—and third-generation AirPods following the release of the two fourth-generation models.

Gurman stated that the current versions would get a new hearing aid mode with iOS 18, but he anticipates the release of the new AirPods Pro at least next year. He continued by saying that Apple is also developing an AirPods hearing test feature.
