Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk confirmed on Saturday that Starlink is awaiting government approval to launch its satellite-based internet services in Pakistan. This statement came in response to a post by Pakistani netizen Sanam Jamali, who highlighted the transformative potential of Starlink in enhancing connectivity across the nation.
Jamali emphasized how Starlink could “leap Pakistan into the future,” urging Musk to expedite the service launch. She later claimed Pakistan had approved Starlink’s application, appealing to Musk to fast-track its rollout.
Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima confirmed that Starlink Internet Services Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. has applied for a license. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is currently reviewing the application, ensuring compliance with technical requirements like bandwidth and uplinking under the National Space Policy framework.
Pakistan, which faced significant internet disruptions in 2024, topped global outage reports with financial losses reaching $1.62 billion, as per Top10VPN.com. Starlink’s entry could be a game-changer for millions in underserved regions, providing reliable high-speed connectivity.
With regulatory approvals pending, the anticipation for Starlink Internet in Pakistan continues to grow, holding the promise of bridging the digital divide and unlocking educational and economic opportunities.
