As revealed on Tuesday, Apple today announced the 2024 Swift Student Challenge winners. For those unfamiliar, the competition pushes developers to demonstrate their coding abilities by constructing playground projects. This year, some winners will be able to attend an in-person WWDC 2024 event at Apple Park.
Esther Hare, Apple’s senior director of developer marketing, thanked the winners in a post on X. The 350 winners will each receive an official Apple certificate, a one-year subscription to the Apple Developer Program, a coupon to take the Apple Developer Program certification exam, and an AirPods Max. For the first time, Apple has selected 50 “Distinguished Winners” for an “extraordinary three-day experience” at Apple Park in June.
This year’s WWDC will take place on June 10-14. The WWDC 2024 sessions, like past Apple events, will be pre-recorded and streamed online; however, the journalists and invited developers can watch the opening keynote in person.
Apple will likely introduce new iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS versions at WWDC 2024. According to rumors, iOS 18 will have a number of AI-powered features and a new method of organizing the Home Screen. Whether the business intends to showcase new hardware at the event is still being determined.
