Apple Tests New Health App for Diabetes Prevention and Blood Sugar Tracking

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has been testing an innovative health app focused on diabetes prevention for select employees with prediabetes.

While not slated for public release, this app is a crucial step in Apple’s long-term goal to add blood glucose monitoring to its health products.

The app helps users track their blood sugar levels, showing how various food choices impact their glucose.

For instance, after eating a carbohydrate-heavy meal, users could see a blood sugar spike and might be encouraged to choose more protein-rich foods to stabilize their levels.

The idea is to help users make healthier lifestyle choices, potentially reversing prediabetes and preventing Type 2 diabetes.

Apple is also making strides toward a noninvasive blood glucose sensor for future Apple Watches. This device, which would monitor blood sugar without the need for a skin prick, uses lasers to detect glucose levels through the skin.

While this technology is still years away, Apple’s investment in these tools highlights its commitment to preventive healthcare.

With continued testing, Apple’s health products could soon offer cutting-edge solutions for managing blood sugar and reducing the risk of diabetes.
