Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman detailed some of the new goods he anticipates Apple will unveil at its “Let Loose” event on May 7 in his Power On email today.
First, Gurman believes there is a “high likelihood” that the forthcoming iPad Pro models will use Apple’s next-generation M4 CPU, rather than the M3 chip that debuted in the MacBook Pro and iMac six months ago. He stated that an enhanced Neural Engine will be a key new feature of the M4 CPU, boosting performance for AI workloads and that Apple will sell the forthcoming iPad Pro as an AI-powered gadget.
Second, he said that the new Apple Pencil, which will likely be unveiled at the event, will include haptic feedback for the first time. While he did not elaborate on how this will operate, the Apple Pencil may include a small Taptic Engine that vibrates while moving between drawing tools and performing the suspected “squeeze” action, which MacRumors previously discovered within the iPadOS 17.5 beta code.
Third, he repeated that Apple will release the first 12.9-inch iPad Air and a new Magic Keyboard for iPads.
Apple’s event will begin on May 7 at 7 a.m. Pacific Time (10 a.m. Eastern Time), with a video stream available on Apple.com and YouTube.
