According to DigiTimes, Apple’s price increases for its following iPad Pro models with OLED displays could be as much as $160, far lower than early rumors indicated.
Apple’s 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, while the 12.9-inch model with a mini-LED display costs $1,099. Previous sources suggest that the next-generation 11-inch OLED iPad Pro could start at $1,500 and the 13-inch model at $1,800.
DigiTimes does not provide a source for the $160 price hike, so it is unclear whether it is accurate or even close. This might keep Apple’s 11-inch OLED iPad Pro priced under $1,000, with the 13-inch edition from $1,200 to $1,300.
The cost hike is due to the OLED displays, which Apple has not previously employed in iPads. OLED panels are more expensive to source than LCD panels, and Apple’s particular screen specifications, such as a skinny design using a tandem-stack design, add to their higher cost when compared to others on the market.
The following iPad Pro models are believed to be powered by Apple’s newest M3 processor. The future iPad Pro models may incorporate MagSafe charging and a revamped Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad to resemble a laptop.
Apple expects to release iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4 in March, coinciding with the launch of new iPad Air and iPad Pro models and accessories.
